We are blessed, we (Phyllis and I) had a wonderful Christmas. All of our kids with spouses and grand kids were here all at once, including my parents. My Mom and Dad (94 and 93 arrived Saturday, they drove over from Illinois. Saturday night my Mother talked with Sants on the Ham radio. We went to Church on Sunday and came home for dinner. Monday our kids and spouses arrived with all the grand kids, what a blessing.

On Tuesday my grand daughter had her 5th birthday. Olive garden was her choice for lunch and cake and ice cream at their house.

Jim and Kristy had a special day come up yesterday, Jim had to report to the Cook County court system and report for jury duty. He was selected to serve and I am here picking up Jimmy. Jim and I got Jimmy off to school, then I went to Home Depot and looked around for a 50 amp circuit breaker for the hot tub, they had nothing. So I went to Lowe's some 12 miles away, across Chicago, near Midway air port, ( thank goodness for GPS). Well I made it and Lowe's had what I wanted. I am back at the apartment now playing on the radio and computer. Rough day.

Today marked the end of WW1 100 years ago, the 11th hour, 11th day, 11th month and the 11th year. Later in History the name was changed to Veterans Day to honer all Veterans. Phyllis went to work and I stayed home and finished the yard. Then I was there at the hospital to pick her up and take her to Applebee's for a Veterans Day Supper.

As we sat around the breakfast table this morning, I ask the Lord to watch over Phyllis because she was going to work and who knows what can happen in a hospital. She called at 8:30 am and wanted me to come to work and take her home. She was helping a nurse with a patient and tripped and fell on the concrete floor and banged her head, bruising her left eye, bending her glassed out of whack, and her fingers are sore. Other than that she is OK See how the Lord watches over you, Thank you Jesus.

This afternoon after church Michael and Zoe joined me for lunch at Olive Garden, I had my usual soup and salad. Then after lunch I helped Michael put up a new celling lamp in their dining room.

Jim, Kristy and Jimmy came by for a short time tonight on the way to Indianapolis. Kristy is on vacation this week, and Jim most of the week. Our house is a nice place to stop for a bathroom break between Chicago and Indianapolis. Phyllis was able to be here also, so that made it real nice.

As a side note, the research satellite (uars) is going to re-enter earth atmosphere tonight. Its is now going to fall some where between Canada and South America. I hope it fall into the ocean somewhere. It should fall between midnight and 4 Am. I will be in bed and will hear about it in the morning.

I went out the other day and fired my Mossburg ATR 100 rifle. Its a 30-06 with a scope one it. I am retired army and shot expert. Well after 15 rounds it was frustrating not to even hit the paper. I was discouraged and was leaving. You see I had never fired a rifle with a scope on it. Well there was another shooter firing on a Augustan range and he had a spotter scope. I hooked up with him and with in 5 rounds I had the scope zeroed and every thing was in the black This is a picture of my rifle, mine is brown.

This is the third day I am taking care of Jimmy. Jim will come home tonight, and we will have a birthday for Kristy and a belated one for Jim ( better late than never) I had breakfast of omlets toast, milk , coffie and etc. I had it all ready by the time they all came to the table. Well Kristy is off to school, Phyllis is taking a nap, Jimmy is in his own worl, he is playing with his toy jet and had it ower his head and then in his towes and slowley lowered it to his eyes.

Today is 8/10 @ 8:58 AM. I have Jimmy off to school, breakfast was egg in a hole. I got a part at Home Depot so will install it and see if it works. Kristy showed me Pandora on my iphone and boy I like it, 4 part southern gospel is all it plays, that great.

I have a Yaesu FT 817 running 2.5 watts SSB on 40 mtr, I am using a base loaded 10 foot whip and have made contacts in Hibbing MN and Iron River Mi, thats 400 miles from Chicago. Will try 20 Mtr now. Just made a contack in Md on 20 mtr SSB

Camp Atterbury / JROTC camp

I repeated this for 4 days, the dirtier they got the moor they enjoyed it.

July 21-24 I was at Camp Atterbury helping to train 222 high school kits. The kids were all in JROTC at school (jr reserve officer training course). I was involved in part of the leader ship reaction, others were working with the repelling tower, swimming and land navigation. My part was in two parts, 1st. taking a wounded soldier off the battle field, giving first aid and negotiating obstacles (a stretcher and a 5 gal water bucket full of holes, that they had to patch and go through the obstacles with out letting the bucked run dry). the 2nd part learning how to build a 2 roap bridge, and tie a swiss seat around them. the roap was 125 foot long and the river was about 75 feet wide. 220 graduated on Saturday the 25. The kids came from Indianapolis, Gary and Evansville Indiana. there were about 30 IGR personnel and maybe 25 teachers.

Since then other things have happened. 1 turned in her theses for the last time, with all revisions done. 2.SOLD their house, 3.now it on to Chicago to start medical school. Indianapolis Mini Marathon 5/2/09

May 2nd 2009 was a great day, temp was in the 50's and cloudy, a perfect day for a race. This is the One America Mini Marathon in Indianapolis a 13.1 mile race. This is what I was looking at as I started the race. It ran from down town Indy to the Indianapolis 500 mile track, around the track and back down town. This was how many people were in front of me. The race was divided into 26 catagories (A-Z ) I was in "Y" . I finished the race in about 3 hours and 45 min. Just for giggles I had my iphone counting my steps 994 steps per mile 12,922 to compleat the race. For the first 11 miles I averaged 15 min miles then I got tired and slowed to 18 min miles. anyone want to try it next year?, this was my 4th year. When I checked in the night befor I found out there were about 50,000 signed up for the race and a additional 15,000 for the 5K which was ran after all of us in the mini had started (swine flue any one).

I am on a military installation, studying Home Land Security issues through FEMA. We are learning to be managers of incidents. Real fun, its a lot of discussion, scenario's, and table top exercises, will go home tomorrow on Sunday. I spent two days here last month. This is through the Indianan Guard Reserve. Today in the news, Mexico reported 16 dead with swine flu. This is the kind of issues I study, how to manage these.

I walked into Kings Hall today, the mess hall, and low in be hold there was one of my soldiers, from my old unit I retired out of, over 3 years ago, and you should have seen the reunion. She had been to Iraq and back in that time.

Michael has come home, to Brookston. He has rented a house in Brookston. I wish you could have seen him going around making deposits and setting up house. I'm so proud of him. This is a two bedroom, one bath small house, with detached garage. Michael has make some bad choices in life, but the Lord is helping turn him around. I could say moor, and probly will as time goes on, but for now, thank you Jesus.

Zoe was a teal trooper after spending 4 days and 3 nights on the road visiting family. She had to try the long hall ways in the hotel, out for speed and do her hygiene. Each night was in a new house, bedroom and bed. She was glad to be home and see Mon and Dad again. They said she slept all night after drooping her off.

Phyllis and I took Zoe on a trip of 3 days. We left on Feb 26 and came back on March 1 2009. We visited my parents, Rosemary and Georgi Ann. Zoe who is 2 was a real trooper when it came to the car, she done real well, and each night was in a difrent bed, bedroom and house.

5 other people and myself from church had a Sunday school-youth seminar today in Kokoma Indiana. I attended several 3/4 hour classes on song, games and teaching 5th and 6th graders. They served lunch at the church. The afternoon classed were geared towards quizzing, youth camps, etc.

This evening Michael and Jess brought Zoe out for supper and we played games after words. My grand daughter is beginning to speak in sentences

Valentina's Day was spent with Phyllis. I took her to Olive Garden and we had a wonderful meal together. By the way Phyllis and I have been on a low carb diet for about 6 mo, I am down 2 pant sizes and Phyllis is wearing Kristy's clothes. We rounded the evening out by playing games at home.

Her contract was up on her cell phone so we went to AT T store and went shopping. Come to find out, her phone has been making a call every minute, for a minute, hang up, and call the same number over again since Sept, 08. The number was 111 111 1111. The phone used all her roll over minutes, and we we were facing a $1017.00 bill this month. This has all been corrected, including Restoration of roll over minutes, and a new phone.

Federal Taxes Accepted / FAFSA forms

That's always a load off your shoulders. @7:26 PM today my federal taxes were accepted, after just being send 1 1/2 hours earlier. I got a hold of a nice man at Tax Cut and he walked me through the editing of a form, and that corrected the problem. Also a nice lady at IRS gave me some important information. Now I am just weighting for the State to come through. Update, all taxes are filed and accepted 2-13-09

Today Michael transmitted his FAFSA forms. The thought occurred to me today, my son is sitting in my house using my computer, reading instructions on how to fill out a form, so he can go to college. So out of the blue I ask him, did you think a year ago, you would be doing this? He said, no, as you can tell he talks a lot He is thinking about 1/2 time in the fall to study HVAC.

I filed my taxes both state and federal on Saturday the 7Th and was rejected. I have since refiled and sent them in twice. The problem is the electronic signature is not correct according to last years 1040. I inter the information where they say to find it and it's wrong. I gess I will have to go to work for the new president and not pay taxes, they seem to get high paying jobs. Enough of that

This is a day that we have the pleasure of baby setting our grandson. My wife and I are sitting at our grandson's house. We spend the night before and then spend the day here. Jimmy's other grandparents do the same, except at their house. This way they only have to have day care 3 days a week, instead of 5 days. This is the kind of fun I look forward to on Jimmy days. (I wonder about them sometimes, then I just remember She is a chip off the old block, and just like her dad) We made it home OK.
